A lot of people ask me questions, I followed the recipe to the T but it didnt work. Why it didnt work- there are several reasons, lets just concentrate on finding out how to check the effeciency of baking soda and baking powder for now. Baking powder and soda: Baking soda and powder both have a limited shelf life. Its important you store them correctly in an airtight container . Humidity etc can spoil them.I discard any soda or powder ever 6 months Checking baking powder: Take a bowl, add a tsp of baking powder, pour few tbsps of warm water on it, if its effervesces, its good. If no bubbles- its good to be discarded! Checking your baking soda: Again, its important how you store it. To check if your baking soda is any good... take a tsp of soda and add a couple of tsp of vinegar . If its fuzzes, its good, if no bubbles- discard. The white flour dough is cut into a triangle and rolled, then bent to form its characteristics half-moon shape. Croissants are usually served with butter and jam, or they may be filled with almond paste and topped with almond flakes. A savoury variation may be filled with ham and cheese. Croissant dough may be also filled with one or two sticks of chocolate and rolled into a rectangle to make pain au chocolat. In modern-day France, while the plain croissant still rules the breakfast table, its savoury equipment is eaten at any time of the day as a snack.
